Morocco has emerged as one of the most affordable destinations for BJJ training camps in the world. As of March 2026, two verified operators run camps along the Atlantic coast: MatnWave BJJ & Surf Camp in Taghazout and BJJ Connection Morocco, which runs seasonal editions in Imsouane and Marrakech.
The surf-and-BJJ camp format is unique to Morocco's coast. Taghazout and Imsouane sit on some of the best surf breaks in North Africa, with consistent Atlantic swells from September through May. Camp operators combine twice-daily BJJ sessions (Gi and No-Gi) with surf coaching, creating a training rhythm that most standalone academies cannot replicate.
Weekly all-inclusive packages typically range from 650 to 890 EUR and cover accommodation (usually beachfront villas or surf houses), daily meals, BJJ instruction, surf equipment and coaching, and airport transfers. For comparison, similar BJJ retreat formats in Bali, Thailand, or Costa Rica often start above 1,200 EUR per week.
Morocco's camp season runs year-round, though the most popular windows are September–November and March–May, when temperatures are comfortable (20–28°C) and surf conditions are consistent. Winter months offer bigger waves for experienced surfers, while summer is warm with calmer seas.
Both operators are independently verified through official websites, social media presence, and community feedback. BJJ Morocco does not accept paid placements — camps are listed based on verified operation, not sponsorship.
